Classic song lyrics featured on teams' printed t-shirts

Thu, 22 May 2008 17:29

School sports teams in the United States have been using printed t-shirts adorned with classic song lyrics to inspire their players.

According to the Washington Post the Glenelg girls' and boys' lacrosse teams from Maryland have both achieved championship status this season.

And their success could be down to the motivating lyrics emblazoned on their team clothing, which as well as making them look the part may also have helped to stir their ambitions.

This season the boys' team wore printed t-shirts featuring the slogan Don't Stop Believing, the name of a song by American rock band Journey.

Meanwhile the girls opted for the catchphrase Hold on to that Feeling, lyrics contained in the song, to keep up their spirits between games.

Boys' team leader Chris Gotschall told the Washington Post that the championship wins have helped to put Glenelg on the map as "one of the best schools in the state".

Promotional clothing such as that worn by the teams can be an effective motivator. Jocelyn Faris, sales director at workwear supplier Redmark, told Promotional Merchandise that logos and slogans can help to bring people together and make them feel part of a team.
