Love her or loathe her Britney Spears is an avid wearer of the T-Shirt. My personal favourite being her no pushover, slogan set on a pink sleeveless T-Shirt emblazoned with a woman holding a pistol, watch out paparazzi.Although many A-list celebrities are inclined to don T-Shirts with meaningful slogans and eye-catching designs this is not a new phenomena. The original celebrity T-Shirt wearer was the legendary Marlon Brando. In 1950 he wowed female audiences by donning a white T-Shirt and a pair of figure hugging blue jeans. From then on the T-Shirt became a staple American fashion accessory initially for the young, rebel without a cause, male.In the 1960’s the T-Shirt evolved further when it was tie dyed and screen printed with basic designs. In the 1970’s the music industry began to see the T-Shirt as a profit-making promotional item for rock bands.During the 1980’s and early 1990’s we started to see large slogan’s being screen printed onto T-Shirts such as the infamous Relax, by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. These T-Shirts are rumoured to be making a comeback this year so maybe this year we might see Britney Spears in a retro, Wham! Make it Big T-Shirt?
