School wear and polo shirts were among the items snapped up by 23 underprivileged kids in Burbank recently as they took part in the 16th annual Mervyn's Back to School ChildSpree.Jaycees co-sponsored the event which gave vouchers worth $100 (£50) to kids from low-income families in order to buy some new gear for the coming school year, Clothes2order.com reports.Staff at Mervyn's also equipped backpacks for the kids with school essentials like pens, pencils and notebooks and a reading book was also donated having first ascertained the child's preference.Dakota Jones was one of the kids chosen by the Boys and Girls club of Burbank and the Burbank Temporary Aid Centre to take part in shop-till-you-drop event.She said: "Have you seen my Incredible Hulk shirt? I’ve gotten so many cool clothes for school."Volunteer chaperon Barbara Earhart told the website: "I'm always excited to come to this event; it's my second year and it's really neat for kids like Dakota, who really need the help."
