Air NewZealand seem to have yen for rather unconventional, wacky uniforms for their staff. Back in December it was rumoured that they were going to change their uniforms of four years because of disapproval by staff and customers alike. These uniforms were designed by Zambesi and their colours are teal, greenstone, and schist. Their hat is something akin to Robin Hood’s in shape and the dresses look like 1960’s nurses dresses without the apron, instead they wear a long scarf knotted at the neck.Staff members initially were excited at the proposal of a new uniform until they saw the design that Air New Zealand want to use. Comments on this striking hot pink dress with a black koru print included, ‘I don’t want to get a cup of tea from that on the airplane,’ to ‘seeing all the flight attendants in that might just be a bit much after a while.’This latest creation has been designed by a flamboyant designer known as Cooper. The manager’s uniforms will be bright green and Godzone green is being planned for the ground staff. Whether it brings them more customers or just gives the existing ones migraine is now open for debate.
